Resources that make a difference.
1. Hope for Domestic Violence I recently got a call from Hope for Domestic Violence, a program in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina to help abused women and their children through a variety of programs. They will pick up gently used clothes at your home. You may click on a link to be added to their call list for future clothing drives. Clothes are given to the women and children, and those that cannot be used are sold to thrift centers. Hope for Domestic Violence uses the proceeds for all the programs they fund. What a great motivation to clean out your closets and help families in the process! hope4dv.org 2. What a Life Foundation
An experienced Atlanta interior designer has taken her skills and networks to help returning veterans who need to furnish their homes. What a Life has set up warehouse space to provide a place for others to donate, and a storehouse of items from which to choose when helping veterans and their families. I love this idea! whatalifefoundation.org 3. Treasures Resale
Treasures Resale is an upscale furnishings resale store where you can donate, consign or purchase items that have been consigned by others. In addition, they will paint donated items, or you can commission them to paint items you bring in to them (I needed a dresser for my daughter’s room; they had received a plain but solid maple dresser, and I got to choose the paint color!). They are very helpful and have an ever changing showroom of great pieces. The other bonus is that they give 100% of their net profits to local North Fulton charities each month. Now that’s a win-win! treasuresresale.com |
